Demand for small-form-factor network and multimedia devices is rising fast, so a leading smart-office equipment manufacturer launched a 2026 program for compact enclosures. The housings had to protect internal routers, control modules and signal interfaces, perform reliably in commercial offices around the clock, and look consistent across a true mass-production run.

2Client Pain Points

At this volume the customer had seen quality drift appear: the 3.4 cm slim profile flexed during handling, the network, power and control ports on the front panel misaligned with the boards, and the matte-black finish shifted tone across a 1,000-unit run. Dust ingress through ventilation was also a concern in open-plan offices.

3Technical Challenges

A 0.8 mm shell only 34 mm tall has to stay rigid enough to protect the electronics, yet every extra feature adds weight. Ventilation has to carry heat away without letting dust in, and holding a perfectly consistent matte-black color across 1,000 units demanded a tightly controlled coating process rather than small-batch luck.

4Our Custom Solution

We reinforced the shell with integrated ribs and precision bending, raising rigidity by about 22 percent without adding thickness. Laser cutting and CNC punching with live calibration locate every port, and a rear honeycomb ventilation pattern cools the device while meeting IP54. An automated powder line with strict temperature control and sampling every 50 units keeps the black consistent at volume. First-article units were validated on the customer’s hardware before mass production.

5Actual Benefits

The 1,000 units cleared CMM inspection, coating adhesion, full-load thermal imaging and mounting-compatibility tests with a 100 percent pass rate, shipping five days ahead of the 35-day schedule. Over six months of office field testing there was no overheating, dust ingress or deformation, and the matte-black finish stayed clean and even. The customer signed a three-year exclusive supply agreement for its full compact multimedia and network device line.
